22 Mar Dare to Simplify?
I don’t know about you but this warm weather is breathing new life into me! Getting that dose of Vitamin D with a breezy run outside and hitting up Shem Creek for some happy hour specials makes me super happy. When this happens I like to “ride the wave” by picking something in my life to improve.
No surprise, I’m on a mission to simplify my life! I try to practice what I preach, so just a couple weeks ago my husband and I moved from our 1300 sqft 3 bed/2 bath apartment on James Island to a 550 sqft studio in Mount Pleasant. Whoa, you may think we’re crazy…and honestly I was starting to think the same thing. But it was something I knew we needed. Living on JI was becoming stagnant and we needed a new environment to explore!
After selling our coffee table and dining table, half our sectional and God knows how many trips to Goodwill, we are almost completely settled in and we’re totally making it work!
After spending hours on Pinterest and using my problem-solving skills, I have identified several space-saving solutions to make the most of our cozy new home. I have included some pictures in this newsletter for you to check out!
My Big Takeaway: I have learned just how little you actually NEED to live a happy and abundant life. It was tough to let some things go, but I couldn’t even tell you what half of those things were that we donated. Our home is simple, cozy, inspiring and makes us happy. Even our little dog Amber is more relaxed because she doesn’t have so many different places to play and sleep.
It’s all about deciding what’s important to you. For us, we’d rather have more money to explore Charleston and travel than have a big place we only use half of. If you think simplifying how you live will make you happier, I hope this inspires you to take action!
